Case report - Tennis elbow
A 55-year-old male patient came to me with pain in his left
elbow, which had been bothering him for three years. The
treating orthopedist had diagnosed tennis elbow.
Conservative treatment options had been exhausted. One of
the sources of his chronic elbow pain was repetitive strain
caused by looking after the needs of his wheelchair-bound
wife. Provocative movements caused pain that the patient
rated 5 on a 1-10 pain scale. The YNSA C zone and points
within the new YNSA somatotopes, as well as YNSA neck
diagnostic points, were painful to palpation.
During the first acupuncture session, the patient became
totally free of pain. My recommendation to the patient was
to continue YNSA treatment, since 12-15 sessions are
generally needed for lasting improvement. At those
sessions, YNSA would be combined with Chinese body
acupuncture.
YNSA zones needled:
YNSA C zone, new YNSA somatotopes, YNSA Ypsilon points
according to YNSA neck diagnosis
Chinese scalp acupuncture:
none
Additional therapeutic measures:
none
