YNSA works with self-contained somatotopes – neural “images” of the body on tiny areas of the head.

The practitioner takes an extensive patient history, and performs palpatory neck and abdominal diagnosis. In this way he obtains information about where he can expect to find tender points or regions on the scalp. For example, pain in the arm often corresponds to hardness or swelling of tissue at the temples.

The points are identified through palpation (examination by touch) and then stimulated by very fine needles or lasers, or sometimes electrically. The needles remain in place for at least 20 minutes.

YNSA point categories:

  • Basic points A-K
  • Brain points
  • Sensory points
  • Cranial nerve points
  • Ypsilon points
  • New somatotopes
  • Neck diagnosis
  • Abdominal diagnosis
